Three books. One engine. Three readers. One terminus.

Christian words can remain in place long after their meanings have gone soft:
Believe. Grace. Obey. Perfect. Saint. Salvation.

The Shape of Faith returns those words to Scripture and follows them until they make an honest demand.

Each book meets a different reader: one who needs an anchor, one whose counterfeit must be exposed, and one who needs to discover that the fire of a deconstructed faith did not destroy the foundation.

All three ask the same question:
What shape does your faith take when Christ speaks?

1. Blessed Assurance

How to Know that You Have Eternal Life

For the reader who has struggled with assurance of salvation, wondering if they are secure, and needing the anchor of hope that is found in Christ Jesus.

The title promises comfort, and the book keeps that promise by taking the reader to the only place assurance can safely rest. First John provides the compass: the same words that settle a genuine believer can also unsettle a false one, and Scripture does both as mercy.

The book distinguishes assurance from security, possession from union, payment from posture, and a completed verdict from a present pulse. It protects the weary believer from mistaking weakness for death while refusing to let remembered faith replace present trust.

Book One ends where the whole series is held together: Hebrews 6, where warning and strong consolation stand within the same chapter, and where hope enters as “an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast.”

2. The Convenient Christ

The Faith You Built to Live With, and the Fire Already on Its Way.

For the comfortable Christian trusting a convenient Christ.

The comfortable reader has not noticed the counterfeit because comfortable definitions do not invite examination. This book removes the mask by dividing six words that have been made soft: believe, grace, obey, perfect, saint, and salvation.

Each division closes an exit. Agreement is separated from trust. Grace as cover is restored to grace as power. Obedience as payment is divided from obedience as the posture of the rescued. Flawlessness is divided from biblical completeness. The redeemed are taught to receive the noun Scripture gives them. Salvation is shown not as a detached possession, but as life in the Son.

The discomfort is not cruelty. It is mercy arriving before the fire does.

3. What Survives the Fire

You Were Right to Burn It Down. You Were Wrong About What Would Be Left.

For the deconstructing disciple who recognized the counterfeit and is in danger of burying Christ among the ashes.

This reader has already found wood, hay, and stubble in what he was handed. The book does not ask him to pretend otherwise. It begins by naming why the burning felt necessary, then turns the fire: the reader was never its master. God was already committed to trying every work by fire and exposing what could not remain.

The counterfeit burns. Christ does not. "Other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."

Book Three uses the same six divisions and arrives at the same necessary decision, but its work is restorative. The knife goes into the counterfeit beside the wounded reader, not into the reader himself. Its final question is whether he will build again on the foundation the fire could not touch.

THE SHARED ENGINE

Every chapter in the series follows the same movement, whether it belongs to Book One’s continuous read or the daily structure of Books Two and Three:

Start at the wound. Name the slogan, reflex, fear, or excuse the reader is already carrying.
Divide the term. Separate the two things that have been carelessly merged under one word.
Let Scripture force it. Use the passage that makes the counterfeit definition impossible to keep holding.
Press to the demand. Name what the established truth requires of this reader now.

If a chapter permits the reader to agree without answering, it is not finished.

The three books begin in different places because the three readers do. They do not end in different truths.

The genuine believer is led to an anchor. The comfortable believer is brought before the mask. The deconstructing believer is shown what remains beneath the ashes.

All three are brought to Christ, and none is allowed to substitute a familiar word for living faith in Him.
