SERIES: The Final Judgment

This is Part 1 of a 4-part series on The Final Judgment:
Part 1 (You are here) · Part 2 → · Part 3 → · Part 4 →

The Verdict is Already Scheduled

When Jesus described the Final Judgment[1] He didn't offer a parable to confuse us—He gave a preview. Not a mood. Not a metaphor. A future we will stand inside.

A throne. A King. A day already fixed in heaven's calendar.

God "hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained"[2]
This is not theoretical. This is scheduled.

And the Judge is not an idea. He is a person.

"The Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son"[3]
The One who bled for sinners is the One who will weigh sinners.
The One who called us to repentance is the One we will stand before.

So hear this clearly: we are not drifting toward a hazy afterlife. We are headed toward a courtroom.
Not to argue the evidence.
To have it revealed.

Whether the sky splits or the heart stops first, the next face we'll see is His.

This is an open-book test.
The standard is published. The answer key is open.
We can grade ourselves now.

You're not waiting for Judgment Day. You're living in the evidence-gathering phase.

We might already be condemned—and not even know it.

Let's talk about receipts.

FOOTNOTES

  1. Matthew 25:31–46"When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat… Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me… Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire… Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal." ↩︎
